Cob House Fish Farm Cob House Hatchery & Ponds

Our purpose built, high-tech hatchery and growing systems are used to produce fingerlings for stocking our earth ponds.

We begin spawning in November in order to produce young stock fish of a suitable size for stocking out from the end of April to mid June.

All our stock fish are produced from our own broodstock parent fish, which are maintained on site.

Many of our fingerlings are also sold for restocking other fish farms for growing on.

Cob House Hatchery & Ponds

Our stock fish are grown on in extensive earth ponds, where their growth and health status are carefully monitored and maintained.

More growing ponds were added in Spring 2008 to help meet the ever increasing demand for quality stock fish.

Aeration and water quality monitoring ensure high survival rates.

Cob House Hatchery & Ponds

All our pond grown stock fish are hand fed twice daily.
Regular sampling and a computer aided feeding regime, developed by
Fish Farm Manager Phil Walters, ensure optimum growth.

Growth rates in our Carp often exceed our expectations, with many reaching 8 to 10 inch  and larger in their first summer.
